The campus is surrounded by a major technology precinct, affluent suburbs and Lane Cove National Park which is close by. It is easy to get to the University from the city centre, either by train or bus. Frequent bus services run through the campus itself and give access to all areas of the city.

The Macquarie University campus houses a Research Park which is well known and regarded. The development is modelled on highly successful research parks in the USA, UK and Singapore. This research park provides the characteristics of proximity to campus, networking opportunities for students and enhanced telecommunications.

Macquarie University also houses 9 National Research Centres, 16 University Research Centres and 3 Research Institutes.
